Hey everyone! I recently had a request to make this video (and blog post) for you from a friend! So here it goes!
If you’ve been following me for awhile, then you’ll know that I’ve pretty much seen it all (well, not ALL of it, but I’ve been around the block a few times!) If not, then here’s a back story. I’ve been living off of less than $15,000 a year for my adult life. It’s typical for college kids to live this way, and I sure have. My last two years of college I rented apartments, where most of my income went. The rest of it went towards trips and experiences (Colorado, North Carolina, Canada). After I graduated college, I left Wisconsin and lived on the road a bit, then in an off grid cabin on the Oregon Coast. Following that, I went back to Wisco and lived in my mom’s basement (thank you Mom…) until I was able to find a great opportunity working and living on an organic farm while living in an RV. Now, I’m in Sedona, living on public land and opening up my heart to new opportunities!
And I was able to do all of this for less than $15,000 a year.
I wanted to share with you two points here about doing this:
Everyone’s situation is different. Everyone creates the reality they choose. What works for me may not work for you! This is just my reality, the reality I created and I’m totally happy with that!
ABUNDANCE COMES IN MANY MORE WAYS THAN MONEY!!!!! Money is not the definition of abundance, people!! A rich life doesn’t mean you have to have loads in the bank!! Think of all the ways abundance comes to you in your life - all the way from friends, how you get your food, bartering, synchronicities, love, your passions, other people’s passions, experiences. The list can go on forever.
Now, I wanted to share a bit about how I can live on less than $15,000 a year, because it’s definitely possible.
Minimalism - I talk about minimalism a lot here… but it’s important and key to being able to live the way I do! Keeping my items to a minimum, what fits in the car only, is amazing because I’m not spending money on things. When I’m not buying things, I can use my money on improving myself, self love, experiences, traveling, supporting my friends, my passions, my little business. It’s all within that creates without. No amount of “stuff” can fulfill me the way my lifestyle and heart’s purpose can. If you’re interested in minimalism, check out my other posts and videos HERE.Using my time on my passions - If I’m not out shopping or filling the void within with STUFF, then what am I doing? I have many gifts I came here with (as do you!!!!!) that I crave to share with the world!! My passions keep me busy. Making videos, being in nature, studying plants and spirituality, photography, creating art, making music, writing books and poetry, creating plant based recipes, traveling… etc… You get the gist. What are your passions?? Fill your time with them, within, rather than looking to fill yourself with external things. You’ll feel great :)Consciously spend your money - I don’t mean penny pinching either!! Austin and I eat an organic, plant based diet and nourish our bodies with the best food possible. We travel and live in amazing places because we choose to. Consciously spending your money means putting your money, your ENERGY, into things that mean the most to you and are for your highest good. You know what’s best for yourself, so give it to yourself! Allow abundance into your life in other ways - Have you ever heard of bartering? It’s amazing! There are so many ways to create abundance in your life with out money. Get creative!! Also realize the ways you already are abundant - what friends do you have that you can share with? Sharing means you can spend time with people, creating community and human connections, also a big part of abundance!Follow your heart, it will bring you abundance! - When you follow your heart, and follow your excitement, the Universe will bring you opportunities that align with how you are feeling and acting! For instance, today my excitement was going to a crystal shop - and what do you know? There was a huge gem show today with so many oddities! I was able to add 6 new stones to my collection for only $3… whereas a crystal shop would have been much more! Following your excitement brings abundance always, and following your passions, no matter what they are, will bring the abundance as well.
There are just some ways I live on such a low income. Part of it is I know that I don’t need much to be happy. I always have enough for what I desire. Living a simple life and believing in myself is all I need <3
